2005 - Proven Success: BRI Publishes Independently Verified Success Rates

Significantly Higher Than Treatment

Note that the previous analysis did not include the years 1991 through 1994 and the years 2005 through 2008. In 2005 Baldwin Research Institute had codified its program into The Jude Thaddeus Program which was completed in November 2004. A decision was made at that time to engage outside research firms to conduct all subsequent studies. The first of three contracted studies was conducted by US Field Research delivered to Baldwin Research in November 2005 by US Field Research, which reported an overall 68% success rate.

Two more studies were commissioned by Baldwin Research both of which were conducted by Clearwater Research, Inc., one in 2006 and the second in 2008. In the 2006 study more than 6 out of 10 guests (61.8%) indicated they were currently sober. And in the 2008 study more than 6 out of 10 guests (63.6%) indicated that they were currently sober.

Of particular interest is that the Clearwater Research Reports include all methodologies used in the studies, including an analysis of the query design. And although there is no definitive way of knowing the slight decline in the results reported by Clearwater Research, vis-à-vis the earlier Baldwin Research results, it is reasonable that the difference can be explained by interviewer effect and a lack of response expectancy. Whatever the case, it cannot be ignored that the Clearwater Research independent results produced results that are at least 10 times better than the aforementioned Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc.'s study (5%).
