Habits and Neuroplasticity

Nearly all of Baldwin researchers’ efforts in 2008 and 2009 were directed toward identifying the actual cause of excessive drug and/or alcohol use, neuroplastic change, and defining The Freedom Model and Cognitive Behavioral Education (CBE). These four subjects constituted the major changes incorporated into the 12th Edition which was copyrighted and released in June 2010. Habituation, neuroplasticity, The Freedom Model and CBE were the culmination of more than two years of research and testing. Mental Habituation, Neuroplasticity, and the creation of CBE marked the beginning of understanding "why" drug and/or alcohol users continue to use, in spite of experiencing unfortunate (unhappy) circumstances because of their using.

The Freedom Model was the recognition that all human beings are free to choose their thoughts and behaviors regardless of their situation.
